Community Upliftment through the iGardi Club
THE JOURNEY
Thembani Primary School is a government school situated at the Langa Township, Cape Town.
The school was introduced to Call 2 Care through Adventure Works in March 2019, with the request for a sustainable Vegetable Garden.
The iGardi Project incepted at Thembani Primary School on the 15 March 2019 with a large international tour group from Adventure Works, who wanted to give back to a local school.
Currently, the iGardi Project runs an eco-learning program at the school with 15 learners and the care-takers of the garden.
There are currently 20 iGardi Food Gardens, and 9 Trench beds at the garden, that are yielding enough food for 2080 learners annually.
THE IMPACT
THE iGARDI CLUB AT THEMBANI PRIMARY
The iGardi Club is a unique immersive learning experience that takes place in the Food Garden of a school. With all lessons attached to the school curriculum, it is the perfect balance of supplementing learning, while practically learning how to grow food, protect the planet, and understand nutrition at it's the source.
