Driven by the health and nutrition challenges identified by Michael Mapongwana Day Hospital in Khayelitsha, the Call 2 Care & LINA Foundation in partnership with Pick n Pay and Wild Medix hosted a Sugar Diabetes Health and Nutrition Expo.
During the expo, patients were given informative pamphlets and encouraged to complete a free glucose test administered by the Wild Medix team. Pick n Pay sponsored soup to all patients whom completed the free glucose test.
On behalf of the Call 2 Care and LINA Foundation team, we would like to thank all those that donated to the Michael Mapongwana Winter Warmer drive raffle and who were involved in making the health expo on the 17th July 2015, a huge success! We would like to especially thank Jaco Moller, Heide Davel and Dries Steyn from Wild Medix for facilitating the glucose tests, megan Swainston-strangwayes for donating the glucose tests and Pick n Pay for donating towards the soup kitchen. Lastly, thank you to all the volunteers who volunteered their time. The event was a huge success and would not have been possible without you all - thank you!
