In Loving Memory of Penelope Susan Williamson nee Duke

This has truly been a season of giving for Penelope's Family and immense gratitude from 4 marginalized communities and beneficiaries.

Penelope Susan Williamson nee Duke lived a colourful and eventful life - hailing from the United Kingdom, finishing school in Switzerland, working in Libya and ending in Cape Town. Penny was truly imperfectly perfect- and had the vocabulary to match! An intelligent, gentle, kind and naughty lady who was adored by her husband Keith Williamson - a Vulcan pilot and a St Moritz downhill racer- she was not a person one could ignore, nor resist. Penny also had an incredibly generous heart, and in her passing, her family asked Call 2 Care to donate 12 full boxes of kitchen equipment, crockery and cutlery to 4 different sites. The beneficiary of this donation are:

  • The Feeding Schemes Kitchen of Simondium Primary School's Kitchen

  • The Sebenza Gogos from the Gogos Garden in Gugulethu

  • The Feeding Schemes Kitchen of Thembani Primary School in Langa

  • and Unakho Children's Home in Barcelona Gugulethu (still to be donated alongside a Christmas Present Giveaway on the 20th Dec, pictures pending)

This very generous donation has gone an incredibly far:

  • Simondium and Thembani Primary School's feeds over 1200 children per day and will use this equipment to feed all of the children of the respective feeding schemes, who rely on a daily meal from the school

  • The 8 Gogo's from the Gogo's distributed the donation amongst themselves and their families and will use this equipment in their monthly soup kitchens that they host for the homeless of Gugulethu

  • And Unakho Children's home houses 26 precious abandoned children, and at least 15 other care-takers that themselves have trauma they are facing, so the equipment will be used to cook and feed the residents of the home, and the onsite church services.

Rest in peace Penelope Susan Williamson nee Duke. God Bless you and your family's incredibly generous hearts! We hope Penny's family have a beautiful festive season, filled with warmth love and abundance - as you have touched the hearts of all those who have benefitted from your contribution. From the Call 2 Care family and all the beneficiaries, we thank you so much and are so grateful!
