Paint & Sip is a fun and unique way to uncork your creativity as an experienced local professional artist takes you step by step through the process of unleashing your inner Van Gogh to recreate your own masterpiece. Participating at our usual events you get: a canvas, paint, brushes, a professional art lesson, delicious meal, and of course a free glass of wine to sip on while our featured artist takes you through recreating a masterpiece. All proceeds go towards funding Call 2 Care's (NPO) Service Projects. At our resident 91 Loop street venue, we empower local artists by providing a venue to exhibit their masterpieces for the popular Cape Town First Thursday and the duration of the month - all art sales go directly to the featured artist.
We are so pleased to have had Kim Mobey as our professional artist for this event. Kim Mobey is a contemporary figurative and portrait artists who’s focus on current social and political events in and around the African continent has led to growing public attention as well as a large body of her work being avidly collected for private collections on every continent and in over 20 countries. Kim is passionate about the human experience and seeks to connect with her subject as well as with her viewers. She immerses herself in her work with the aim to mediate a silent conversation with the viewer. This is evident in her portraits where you can really get the feel for the individual depicted and feel the sense of intimacy communicated. Her recent work is about the beauty and paradoxes of modern Africa and what it means to the myriad people who live here. She believes in the fluidity of the modern world and aims to transcend the tired stigma of the romanticised, colonial and primitive African.
